The Tsonga ethnic group summed up in one image

In summary, the Tsonga ethnic group is made up of 14 groupings of different origins, for example, the amashangaane are of Nguni-Ndwandwe origin, the Khoseni and Nhlave are of Mbai origin and so on. The Tsonga ethnic group is an ancient rainbow nation made up of the following core groups;

  • Vabila – Bila, Mahluza, Mathonsi etc.
  • Valoyi – Makaringi, Mukansi, Mbadze etc.
  • Valenge – Mondlani, Maluleke, Makwakwa etc,
  • Vahlengwe – Chauke, Mawunje, Xitlhangu etc.
  • Vahlanganu – Munisi, Malwani, Mhelembe etc.
  • Vahlave – Nkuna, Maswanganyi, Mavunda etc.
  • Vakhosa – Khosa, Masuluke, Rikhotso etc.
  • Vaxingwidzi – Chavalala, Mbhombi, Sigawuki etc.
  • Valambya – Ngoveni, Muchaviya, Mapengo etc.
  • Vaxika – Mukhavele, Ngomani, Kubayi etc.
  • Vatembe – Tembe, Manyisa, Hobyani etc.
  • Vandzawu – Sithole, Tivani, Muhlanga etc.
  • Vankomati – Mundlovhu, Ntimani, Sambo etc.
  • Machangani – Nxumalo, Mudanisi, Mkhatshwa etc.
